Privacy Policy

        The short version: Spotlings collects no personal data at all. The camera works entirely on your device — no photo or video is ever saved, recorded, or transmitted. There are no ads, no analytics, no accounts, and no in-app purchases.
      

This Privacy Policy describes how Spotlings ("the App", "we", "us") handles information. Spotlings is a scavenger-hunt and mini-games app designed for children aged 3–8, used together with or under the supervision of a parent or guardian. We built Spotlings privacy-first, because our users are children.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically, the App does not collect, store on our servers, or share:

Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any contact details
Photos, videos, or audio recordings
Location data
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Usage analytics or behavioral data

The App has no user accounts, no registration, and no login. We have no servers that receive data from the App.

2. How the Camera Is Used

Spotlings' scavenger hunts use the device camera so a child can find real objects (like a cup or a book) around the home. Here is exactly what happens:

Camera frames are analyzed in real time, entirely on the device, by a small machine-learning model bundled inside the App.
No photo or video is ever captured, saved to the device, or transmitted anywhere. The camera feed is processed frame-by-frame in memory and immediately discarded.
The camera is only active during a camera hunt, and only while the game screen is open.
The camera permission can be revoked at any time in your device settings; the App's mini-games work fully without it.

3. Information Stored on Your Device

To make the game work, the App saves a small amount of game progress locally on your device only:

Which stickers have been collected
The selected voice language (English or Hindi)
The parent's last hunt configuration
A daily play-streak counter

This data never leaves the device. It is deleted automatically when the App is uninstalled or when you clear the App's storage in device settings. None of it identifies you or your child.

4. Children's Privacy

Spotlings is designed for children and complies with the principles of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU GDPR's provisions for children, and the Google Play Families Policy:

We collect no personal information from anyone, including children.
The App shows no advertising of any kind.
The App contains no social features, no chat, no external links reachable by a child, and no content sharing.
Settings and grown-up information are protected behind a parental gate (a math question a young child cannot answer).

5. Third-Party Services

The App currently includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. If a future version adds a service (for example, anonymous crash reporting to improve stability), this policy will be updated first, the service will be configured to comply with the Google Play Families Policy, and it will never collect personal information from children.

6. Permissions the App Requests

Camera — used only for on-device object detection during camera hunts, as described in Section 2.
Vibration — used for gentle haptic feedback when a child finds something or wins a game.
Network (Internet) — present because the app framework (React Native) declares it by default. The App itself makes no network requests, connects to no servers, and transmits no data. The only network activity possible from the App is a parent choosing to open this privacy policy in their browser, from the grown-ups-only area.

The App does not request access to contacts, location, microphone, photos, files, or any other sensitive permission.

7. Data Security

Because no data is transmitted or collected, there is no personal data for us to secure on servers. Game progress stored locally on your device is protected by your device's own security (screen lock, encryption).

8. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes (such as adding any third-party service) will be highlighted here before they take effect in the App.
